UConn tops women's preseason AP Top 25 ahead of South Carolina, UCLA; SEC has 5 teams in top 10
Defending champion UConn picked up where it left off as the No. 1 team in the country in The Associated Press Top 25 preseason women's basketball poll released Tuesday. The Huskies received 27 first-place votes from a 31-member national media panel.
The Wolverines also dropped out of the AP Top 25 poll for the first time this season, as they are now 1-2 against Power Four conference opponents with a record above .500. Sherrone Moore is also just 11-7 in his 18 games as Michigan's coach.
Michigan and Michigan State will both start the 2025-26 women’s college basketball season in the AP Top 25 poll. The Wolverines were voted No. 13, while Michigan State was No. 23. UCLA (No. 3) and Maryland (10) were the top-ranked Big Ten teams, with USC (18) and Iowa (21) also in the poll.
