Jacob deGrom is an All-Star ace again after several injury-filled seasons. This is his fifth All-Star nod, his first for the Texas Rangers and in the American League.
On Friday, deGrom decided to pass on being the Rangers’ lone representative, relieving manager Bruce Bochy, who said per Jeff Wilson, “He’s been carrying a pretty heavy workload coming off the surgery. We want to monitor his workload this year. So, yeah, there’s a big relief for us.”
Though it has been years since he was at his peak, deGrom has a legitimate claim to being the most dominant pitcher of his generation. What follows is a look inside the numbers of his comeback season and his brilliant career. It should serve as a reminder of just how great he is.
Jacob deGrom's injuries continue to mire his career, as he will need elbow surgery that will end his 2023 campaign in his first year with the Texas Rangers.
DeGrom flirted with a perfect game through six innings and a no-hitter through seven Wednesday night in another dominating performance in his return from Tommy John surgery in June 2023.
