British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was attending Armistice commemorations in Paris on Monday, making him the first UK leader to attend the ceremony in the French capital since World War II, according to his office.

Keir Starmer has become the first British leader since Winston Churchill to attend Armistice Day in France. The Prime Minister joined French president Emmanuel Macron at the ceremony in Paris on Monday, laying wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and inspecting the armed forces.

The prime minister and French president laid a wreath together before relighting the flame of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe.
