Despite the Leafs being linked to big names like Mikko Rantanen and St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn in recent weeks, Treliving’s latest remarks, per Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, suggest Toronto may opt for more conservative deadline additions.

Throughout the season, glaring issues such as the lack of a legitimate third-line center have been a hot topic. With a crop of available trade targets, the Leafs should be able to retrieve the services they need in order to make a deep playoff run.

With the NHL trade deadline set to hit on Friday, the Leafs are looking to bolster their centre depth. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, it appears that one of the options they are considering is Schenn, who currently has 12 goals and 37 points in 61 games this season.
