WASHINGTON — A White House official says Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has been leading the charge in the Trump administration on the Gordie Howe International Bridge, which has seen its opening delayed at the request of the United States.

The opening of a Canadian-U.S. bridge across the Detroit River, which President Donald Trump had previously threatened to block, has been delayed due to unresolved issues.

The delay is necessary, the authority said, “to resolve any outstanding issues” between the two countries.
