Dear Cathy: In your column, "Stronger Case for Declawing," (Oct. 3) your case against declawing was based on opinion and supposition, not on science. There are many reasons for people to declaw cats.
Veterinarians are now banned from declawing cats in California except in cases where it is medically necessary. This October, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 867, which prohibits cat declawing.
