The bombshell story of the college football season thus far dropped last weekend, with the Penn State Nittany Lions officially firing coach James Franklin after a 3-3 start, which featured three straight losses in the Big Ten.

Penn State's football team will be without top offensive lineman Vega Ioane for their game against Iowa. The team is also missing its starting quarterback, Drew Allar, due to injury and recently fired head coach James Franklin. Redshirt quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer will make his first college start under interim coach Terry Smith.

Lane Kiffin and Co. continue attacking the recruiting trail, extend an offer to a Penn State pledge this week.

There are already several jobs that have come open with over a month left in the regular season. Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, UCLA and Stanford are the six non-PSU Power Four openings, while Colorado State, Oregon State, UAB and Kent State have all come open at the Group of Six level.

James Franklin is expected to make an appearance on GameDay, almost a week after Penn State fired him from the program.
