Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said emphatically Tuesday that Canada is "not for sale" and "won't be for sale, ever" in an Oval Office meeting with President Trump, moments after Mr. Trump called the border between the U.S. and Canada "artificial" and romanticized the idea of Canada joining the U.S.

During a press conference, The Toronto Star’s Tonda MacCharles noted she had been watching Carney’s facial expressions during the sit-down and was curious as to what had been going through his mind — particularly as Trump spoke about “erasing the artificial border” between America and Canada and mocked Carney’s predecessor, Justin Trudeau.
