A trade pitch has the Edmonton Oilers acquiring Jordan Binnington from the St. Louis Blues in an intriguing deal.

In 2019, Binnington led the St. Louis Blues into the arena on Causeway Street here for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Boston Bruins. He made 32 saves in a 4-1 win, Binnington and the Blues capturing the Stanley Cup for the first time.

Jordan Binnington and Connor McDavid were two of Canada’s biggest heroes in last Thursday’s 4 Nations Face-Off championship win versus the United States, and in a week’s time, they could be NHL teammates.

With Binnington's performance for Team Canada earning plenty of plaudits, the Blues must decide if winning now or later is more important.

Binnington saved the game multiple times in overtime for Canada, and at the same time quieted the concern over the country's goaltending.

After last season's Game 7 loss to the Florida Panthers, Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers must be aiming for the Stanley Cup this year. For that, they need to strengthen their goaltending.
