After missing the last two games for the Heat due to an illness, Rozier will be available to get back on the floor Friday for Miami in Toronto. The veteran scorer should give the team an offensive boost off the bench, as he's scored at least 19 points in four of the last six games he's played.
Rozier's play briefly improved in late January and early February, but he averaged 5.3 points on 30.0 percent shooting in his final three appearances before these DNP-CDs. The trade deadline acquisitions of Davion Mitchell and Andrew Wiggins seem to have pushed Rozier out of coach Erik Spoelstra's rotation for the time being.
Rozier was traded to the Heat before the trade deadline last season where it was in exchange for Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets. At one point, Rozier was considered to be the piece for Miami that could take them over the hump alongside Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro.
However, there are many flaws with the team that go beyond Rozier as the Heat have suffered late-game collapses where they build up double-digit leads, all for it to be erased by the end. Still, Spoelstra believes they can “build on” their “collective spirit” that has been shown.
