Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont says he'll veto $40 million overwhelmingly approved last week as a supplement for towns and cities to spend on special ed.

After a round of back-and-forths between Gov. Ned Lamont and Democratic legislative leaders over how much more spending the state can afford, the governor said Monday afternoon that he will veto portions of two bills passed last week by the legislature.

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont returned home on Monday, March 3, and vetoed a $40 million spending measure for special education initiatives in cities and towns across the state. Now, educators are urging lawmakers to override that decision.

Lamont said he still fully supports increasing funding for special education and pointed to the $54 million increase in his budget proposal.
