The United States has encouraged New Delhi and Islamabad to de-escalate tensions that have continued since the April 22 attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians.

The US State Department mentioned that Rubio urged Pakistan to cooperate in investigating the Pahalgam attack and encouraged India to work with Pakistan to de-escalate tensions and maintain peace in South Asia.

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, India closes airspace to Pakistani airlines while Pakistan Army posts open unprovoked fire along the LoC in Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor.
