DALLAS — North Texas woke up to roadways and yards covered in ice and snow on Sunday morning. The winter precipitation started early Saturday and continued into the overnight hours, and the freezing temperatures turned surfaces into skating rinks, especially on bridges and overpasses.
With parts of Fort Worth coated in 2 to 3 inches of ice, sleet and snow, temperatures will plummet tonight — possibly the coldest since the Great Texas Freeze in February 2021. Early morning temps are likely to reach a record-low for Jan. 26 at DFW (12 degrees set in 1904) and Waco (14 degrees in 1940).

As of 5:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 26, nearly 13,000 people were without power as the storm moved through Oncor's service territory, the agency's outage map shows. Oncor's service area includes the majority of North Texas and parts of West Texas.
"We are devastated by this unimaginable loss, and ourthoughts are with the family, friends, and all who knew and loved these children," Bonham Independent School District said in a letter to families.
