The anticipated Tokyo Series between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers will feature plenty of fanfare in Japan, where baseball is a lifeblood.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have always had a cinematic-like quality to what they do on the diamond. Japan seems to agree as over 150 movie theaters will be streaming the Dodgers’ opening series against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo on March 18 and 19.

Sasaki, meanwhile, is the Dodgers' latest Japanese acquisition, joining his countrymen Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani. He was also an NPB star, earning two all-stars and a perfect game for the Chiba Lotte Mariners. He also set the league record for strikeouts in a game with 19 and holds a world record of 13 consecutive strikeouts.

Shaw is expected to make his major-league debut in the Tokyo Series. The Cubs will have to clear a 40-man-roster spot to activate him, but they don’t have to make any moves until just before Opening Day in Japan.
