Pumpkins' lead singer Billy Corgan will be joined by Lyric's orchestra, chorus and as a group of operatically trained soloists for a "musical-dramatic experience” based on music from the band's famed album “Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness.

Smashing Pumpkins mastermind Billy Corgan has teamed up with Lyric Opera of Chicago to turn Smashing Pumpkins' decade-defining double album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness into a whole opera.

The Smashing Pumpkins released Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and catapulted The Smashing Pumpkins into international success. Now, frontman Billy Corgan is teaming up with Lyric Opera of Chicago to celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary.
