MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A wildfire burning in western Colorado continues to grow after forcing nearby homes and a national park to evacuate. As of Tuesday morning, the South Rim Fire remains 0 percent contained and has grown to 3,988 acres.
Fire activity on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon has forced the closure of several trails and campgrounds. Meanwhile, life goes on at the South Rim where tourists endured a smokey visit Monday.
Crews fighting a wildfire were focused on stopping the flames from consuming nearby cabins, a water pumping station, mule stables and other structures, fire officials said.
