Australian stories by Australian authors underpins an Australian culture. Rather than telling kids stories about a white Christmas, beech forests and badgers, the lexicon should reflect the Australian experience. The only way we can support Australian authors is to buy their books and start the ritual of reading to our kids, which is also a great start to their literary curiosity.
