The M132 was a U.S. flamethrower variant of the M113/M113A1 APC developed in the early 1960s. About 350 vehicles were accepted into service after a prototype first appeared in August 1962. It mounted an M10-8 flame gun (with a coaxial 7.62 mm M73 MG), able to traverse 360° and elevate to 55° / -15°. Weighing 33,000 pounds (14.7 tons) and powered by a Continental W-670-9A 7-cylinder radial gasoline engine delivering 250 horsepower, the M3 could reach speeds of up to 36 miles per hour (58 km/h) on roads.
