During the First World War, millions of soldiers saw the poppies in Flanders fields on the Western Front. Over 100 years later, the poppy is still a world-recognised symbol of remembrance of the First World War, and millions of people choose to wear a red poppy in November. REMEMBRANCE DAY 2025 Tuesday, November 11th marks Remembrance Day. There will be a ceremony held at the Sullivan’s Pond Cenotaph at 10:55am, with a parade march from the church at 10:45am. Sullivan’s Pond has been decorated with beautiful handmade poppies made by residents, family and community volunteers at the Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home again this year.
