If You Want Big, Delicious Fruit, You Have to Thin Them Thinning fruit trees can feel wrong — you're literally plucking off those tiny peaches! But trees set more fruit than they can handle, which leads to small, lower-quality harvests. Here’s what I do: • Thin early and leave about 4–6 inches between each peach. • If fruit is touching, it’s time to thin again. • Check back in a couple of weeks and thin once more. You’ll thank me at harvest when you’re picking big, juicy peaches instead of a bun
