This is what it’s like to celebrate Navratri in Gujarat. In October I experienced the Hindu festival of Navratri - Nav meaning nine and Ratri meaning nights in Sanskrit. It’s dedicated to the goddess Durga and one of the ways it’s celebrated is with dances like Garba, performed in concentric circles. Everyone is welcome to join, including royalty, and foreigners like me. I was made to feel really welcome and people very patiently taught me the dance moves and about the meaning of the festival. I
