Meet Our Ocean’s Zebra Sharks

Meet Fern, one of the zebra sharks living at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Zebra sharks start their lives with stripes, which gradually turn into spots as they get older. She can also push water over her gills while resting to breathe, while some species of shark need to constantly swim to breathe. #SharkWeek #AOPsharks | Aquarium of the Pacific

It’s feeding time for our zebra sharks! Our tarpon (who fun fact, is original to the Scott Aquarium) and Queensland grouper even swung on by for a bite to eat, too. Our five zebra sharks (two males and three females) are fed three days a week. Our aquarists make sure they have variety in their diet. On the menu here is bonito, a fish similar to tuna.
