Companion planting! Ingenious Native American planting technique called Three Sisters. It involves growing three types of plants (sweetcorn, climbing or french beans and squash or pumpkins) in the same bed, where they grow harmoniously with each other. All three sisters (crops) gain from each other’s company. The bean’s fix nitrogen in the soil with their roots which feeds the sweetcorn and pumpkins. The pumpkins sprawl on the ground suppressing weeds and creating shade at the base of the plants
